Hell on wheels

I just watched a documentary about the Tour de France that was incredibly enlightening!I have to say that watching this film makes me want to go and get on my bike! Ha, as crazy as it sounds I'm seriously considering getting into cycling for fun. Maybe I'm just crazy, but it seems as though i've been bitten by the bug... As a college student I spend a considerable amount of time pedaling my sorry ass to class so maybe this isn't so strange after all. Either way I don't really care!
If I don't post in a couple of days you should know that i'm busy... on my bike.

The First Post

Well, hello!
I've decided to start blogging about my daily experience as a student of German language and culture. I'm not really sure what to start out with. Maybe a good place would be recent events. Have you heard about Angela Merkel's statement that multiculturalism in Germany is dead? The German people are currently going through an influx of immigration from all across eastern europe and as a result the conservative populace is feeling upset and a little scared. Germany has always been a fairly homogeneous land and just like any new thing or experience there has to be an adjustment period before people except that which they are not comfortable with. Having said that I am in full agreement with Nosliw (pronounced Nosliv) a German raggae artist who is an activist supporting multicultural values in Germany. Take a look at his video called "Nazis Raus" (get out nazis) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E8kwZInH4U
Enjoy and understand that while many people in Germany are having trouble adjusting the overwhelming majority , especially the young people, are disgusted with the lack of acceptance.
Thanks for reading!
Bis spater!
